Assets: classes, agent types, and dates

An asset is one serialized item you service: a portable extinguisher, a kitchen suppression system, or an emergency or exit light. Each carries its own serial, location, and manufacture date.

For an extinguisher the agent type — ABC dry chemical, CO2, water, wet chemical (Class K), clean agent, and the rest — sets the maintenance schedule, so record it accurately. The manufacture date anchors the internal and hydrostatic cycles, so it matters most on extinguishers.

Get the class, agent, and manufacture date right and the schedule follows on its own. You can correct any field later, and the schedule catches up from the date you set.
