The semi-annual rule
A qualified technician services the system every 6 months. That interval is the headline for restaurant hood systems, and it holds whether the kitchen is busy or slow, because the cooking hazard is what drives it.
What the semi-annual service covers
The scope goes beyond a glance at the cylinder. The nozzles and their blow-off caps are checked and in place. The system pressure reads normal. The manual pull station is accessible and functional. The detection line and links are inspected. Fusible links are replaced on the service interval. The actuation path is verified so the system would fire.
